The Pompidou Center, the famous museum of modern art in Paris, will be closed for repairs from the end of 2023.
The museum has not been reconstructed since its opening in 1977. The cost of the works is estimated at almost 200 million euros, the administration of the Pompidou Center said in a statement.
The reconstruction, which will involve not only state loans, but also private donations, will be completed at the end of 2026, and the museum itself will open to the public in early 2027 - for its 50th anniversary.
It is not planned to carry out layoffs among 1,000 employees of the museum during the works.
