Every tenth trip to Russia last year included a visit to the seaside. The Barents Sea showed the greatest increase in the interest of travelers. This is the conclusion reached by experts of the MTS Travel hotel booking service, who studied which seas Russians rest on.

"The maximum number of trips — 54% — Russians made to the Black Sea coast. The Baltic Sea was in second place in terms of tourist traffic — 21%. The third position was shared by the Azov and Caspian coasts — 8% of all trips to the seas each," the message on the MTS Travel website says.

According to experts, at the same time, the popularity of the Sea of Azov has fallen by more than a third over the year, and the number of trips to the Caspian Sea, on the contrary, has increased significantly.

The largest increase in tourist traffic last year, according to the service, was recorded in the Barents Sea. In second place in this indicator is the Caspian Sea, the coast in Dagestan. On the third line of the rating is the Sea of Okhotsk, which washes the shores of Kamchatka, Sakhalin, Khabarovsk Territory and Magadan region.

The White and Black Seas complete the top 5.

According to the service, on average Russians spend a week on the coast. Residents of the Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Leningrad and Rostov regions go to the sea more often than others.
