The head of the Crimea Sergey Aksyonov instructed to get ready for a tourist season failure with a possible worsening of the situation amid the spread of coronavirus in Russia.
“The border will be closed, now we should expect an increase in tourist flow,” he said during the meeting for preventing the spread of the virus in the republic.
“But we must consider, among other things, the worst case scenario, in which a large number of people will be left without work, income, and work out measures in case the situation develops in a negative way.”
According to the Minister of Resorts and Tourism, Vadim Volchenko, there are currently no risks of disruption to the tourist season: the number of cancellations of reservations at accommodation facilities is at the level of last year and before the introduction of the high availability regime. “Currently, the reservation of hotels and resorts for the period of the May holidays is about 35-90%. We note a serious surge in booking growth from operators of leading federal travel agencies,” he added.
Evgeni Plaksin, Director General of Simferopol Airport, in turn, reported a significant increase in the number of requests for inbound flights to Crimea.
