Zoning will be carried out in the natural territories of Yamal. There will be separate zones for tourists, as well as environmental protection, administrative and economic zones and regulated nature management.
This will allow the development of tourism in Yamal nature reserves, sanctuaries and natural parks without prejudice to flora and fauna, the portal of the government of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug) reports.
There are 15 protected areas in the region, two of them are federal – Verkhne-Tazovsky Nature Reserve and Gydan National Park. The territories are home to 153 species of animals, plants and fungi, which are listed in the Red Book of Yamal and are under special protection.
At the same time, there is an active development of tourist infrastructure in the region, according to the district government.
Zoning in the natural territories of Yamal is planned to be carried out taking into account existing tourist routes.
"Every year our protected areas become more and more popular for tourists. In 2023 alone, 2,648 people visited them. In such conditions, we strive to achieve a balance between the conservation of nature and the development of ecotourism, including through the introduction of such measures," the portal quotes the acting head of the Wildlife Protection Department of the Department of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous District Vitaly Borisyuk.
According to the portal, the practice of ecological zoning is widely used by a number of Russian regions, including Krasnodar Territory, Vladimir and Ivanovo regions.
