Legal and administrative barriers in Russia hinder the development of ecotourism in Russia, as reported by Interfax-tourism citing the head of the Federal Tourism Agency Zarina Doguzova.
“Work is underway on a new law on tourism, the current 1996 is morally outdated. We have to remove the restrictions and barriers that hinder the development of many types of tourism, including, first of all, ecological,” Doguzova, who spoke at the open day of the Sakhalin Region in Moscow, was quoted as saying.
Currently, Rostourizm is working on the development of a tourism project, within which special attention will be paid to the development of infrastructure, the formation of demand, the reduction of the cost of tourist products for tourists and the removal of various administrative and legislative barriers.
Ecotourism is reportedly a promising area for the Sakhalin Oblast if infrastructure problems are addressed.
Earlier it was also reported that the creation of tourist clusters in Sakhalin will help increase the tourist flow from 300 thousand tourists to 600 thousand people per year.
The Sakhalin Region includes Sakhalin Island with the adjoining small islands of Moneron and Tyuleniy, as well as the Kuril Islands.
Sakhalin is the largest island in Russia.
