Mountain Resort «Rosa Khutor» has begun the implementation of a new cluster of tourist camps. The facilities will be located in the recreational zone of the Sochi National Park and interconnected by short routes. To create the infrastructure «Rosa Khutor» is ruled by the Green Code, which comprises 18 criteria on each step of the creation of the infrastructure.

«Expecting to meet the demand of our compatriots for a comfortable and safe trip to the mountains, we are working on the creation of tourist infrastructure in remote and more recently inaccessible places. At the same time, the harmonious integration of accommodation facilities into natural landscapes and protection of natural attractions from concomitant impact are fundamental for us. The consistent implementation of green standards will allow us not only to strengthen control over compliance with legislative requirements, but also to do more than the law requires,» said Dmitry Kolosov, Director for Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development of the Rosa Khutor Resort.

The Green Code reflects the resort's commitment to minimizing environmental impact and reducing resource consumption while providing guests with a comfortable and safe stay. Rosa Khutor makes its standard obligatory for the use in the work of the resort, as well as for co-executors and partners.

Compliance with the criteria of the "Green Code" is determined by the assessment on a point system, for this purpose special indicators are highlighted. Thus, the developer of the tourist infrastructure plan or the team directly building the facility are able to score more points by achieving the best result in specific conditions. For example, an optimal arrangement of objects from the point of view of preserving the natural landscape can be proposed, an action plan to ensure the welfare of wild animals can be drawn up, an innovative water-saving solution can be introduced, or pollution during work can be eliminated, etc.

At the stage of implementation of the "Green Code", the resort considers it important to openly discuss it in the expert environment for further improvement. After testing on Rosa Khutor projects, the new green standard can be implemented in the entire tourism industry in Russia. According to market participants, tools of this kind are now in dire need of the industry.
