This year, 33 Sochi beaches became holders of the international eco-certificate. The International Environmental Award has been awarded annually to the best beach areas in the world since 1987. The "Blue Flag" testifies to the cleanliness of the coast and coastal waters, high-quality infrastructure and accessibility for people with limited mobility.
“This suggests that the world expert community recognizes and confirms the purity of sea water, its compliance with sanitary standards, comfort and convenience of the Sochi beaches,” the head of Sochi, Aleksey Kopaigorodsky, said.
The decision to award Sochi beaches an ecological quality mark was made at a meeting of the International Expert Council in Copenhagen. The coastal areas applying for the award were analyzed according to 33 criteria.
“I would especially like to note that the beaches that have received the “Blue Flags” are located in all the areas of the resort - from Lazarevskoye to Adler. This suggests that our sea area is safe and comfortable, and the service is of high quality along the entire coastal strip,” Kopaygorodsky said.
Among the beaches that received the award are: the Primorsky-1 beach, Velvet Seasons, the Chaika beach, the Rosa Khutor resort beach, the Maurice Torez hotel Pullman beach, the Radisson Collection Paradise Resort & Spa's Radisson beach, Primorsky, Riviera beach, Vzmorie beach, Zapolyarye beach, Lighthouse beach and others.
«We fulfill all the requirements of the certificate, including taking additional water samples, cleaning the beach area, and organizing selective waste collection. In addition, for the upcoming season, the beach has undergone reconstruction of the entrance areas and paths for easier access to the sea. We also have the necessary equipment for people with disabilities. We have launched a regular shuttle service for the guests of the resort, which allows them to combine their vacation in the mountains and the sea,» said the head of the beach of the resort" Rosa Khutor "Christina Vekselberg.
