The press service of Kavkaz.RF reported on the results of the ski season at the Elbrus resort in the mountains of Kabardino-Balkaria. From November to July, the resort was visited by 440,000 tourists, which is 23% more than last season.
Now the resort is completely switching to the summer mode of operation. The ski slopes are closed, but the cable cars up to a height of 3847 m operate as usual. Guests can admire the beauty of the Elbrus region from the Azau Polyana. For tourists and climbers, there is also a unique high-mountain hotel LeapRus, located among glaciers at an altitude of 3912 m.
In addition, in the summer in the highlands there is an active phase of the construction season.
"Active construction work began at an altitude of 3,500 m. Contractors are laying eight new tracks - from green to black - in the section from Mir station to Krugozor, this is an additional six kilometers for skiing. Also, the construction of two chairlifts and gondola lifts is underway in parallel type," the statement said.
The total length of the new cable cars will be one kilometer, each of them will be able to receive 2,400 tourists per hour.
At the moment, electrical installation is being completed on the first cableway, and commissioning will begin in the near future. On the second road, reinforced concrete work is underway at the stations.
The resort also continues to improve: the builders are making a bypass road and an entrance to the hotels. In the next years, it is planned to improve 24 hectares of the resort.
