The press service of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development has reported that Siberia has taken the lead in terms of tourist growth compared to the previous year. From January to September, travelers made 5.5 million trips to the regions of Siberia, a 15.3% increase compared to the same period last year. The Republic of Tyva, Tomsk Oblast, and Omsk Oblast demonstrated the highest growth rates.
The southern regions of Russia ranked second in terms of tourist growth, with a 14.8% increase. In total, the southern regions received 12.3 million tourists. The North Caucasus ranked third, with a 13.9% increase in tourist flow, reaching 2.3 million trips.
Overall, Rosstat recorded 65.5 million tourist trips across Russia in the past nine months, an 11.1% increase compared to the same period in 2023. The number of foreign tourists is also growing: over three million people visited Russian hotels, a 42% increase over last year.
Foreign tourists are showing increasing interest in the Far Eastern regions: Yakutia, Amur Oblast, and Khabarovsk Krai. More and more foreigners are visiting Karelia, Murmansk Oblast, St. Petersburg, Irkutsk Oblast, Tomsk Oblast, and Tyva.
