The Russian Union of the Travel Industry has reported a persistent shortage of campsites in the country, hindering the full development of autotourism. Currently, Russia has about a thousand such facilities, with approximately 700 of them being glamping sites. Experts note that despite the high level of comfort, modular accommodations deter autotourists due to their high cost. More affordable campsites would help meet demand.

According to Andrey Artyukhov, an expert from the National Union of Professionals of the Camping and Autotourism Industry (NSPKA) and president of the "Caravan League," there are currently about 432 campsites in the country that can provide full accommodation. However, this is insufficient for autotourists and RV owners. People are forced to choose gray areas for parking or "wild camp."

You The audience of autotourists in Russia is currently about 20 million families. Another 29.5 thousand families are RVers. Demand for auto travel equipment is growing by about 15% annually. At the same time, 310 companies in the country are engaged in the production and rental of equipment for auto travel. They cannot cope with the demand and can only provide a growth of 10%.

Interest in auto travel around Russia is also growing among foreign tourists, such as guests from Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Turkey. Autotourism among RVers from China is also popular. They travel through Kazakhstan and Russia to Europe. Moreover, such tourists travel in groups of several RVs at once, which can pose a serious challenge for Russian campsites and roadside infrastructure. In this regard, the expert draws attention to the need for timely preparation for such a significant flow of auto travelers.
