The ethno-jazz festival "SenoFest" will be held on July 13 and 14 at the open-air museum "Malye Korely" in the Arkhangelsk Region.
It combines the ancient traditions of the Russian North, folklore and jazz. This is reported on the website of "Malye Korely".
The ethnographic component of the event is northern rituals associated with Petrov's Day and the beginning of haymaking.
"Each visitor to "Malye Korely" during the days of "SenoFest" can learn how to mow grass, make swaths and throw a haystack, weave wreaths from northern flowers and tie birch brooms, take part in a procession to the hayfield with merry songs and ditties, in round dances and a perky "Topotukha" performed by the folklore and ethnographic theater "Novitsa",- noted in the museum-reserve.
The festival's music program includes two big concerts, where primarily folk songs and jazz improvisations will be performed by both young and experienced performers from the Arkhangelsk Region, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Sochi,Rostov-on-Don, and others.
"Traditionally, during the festival days there will be tastings of northern cuisine and master classes from artisans; photo zones will work, where you can try on clothes of northern peasants, and a children's playground with summer games and fun, a hay maze and a hay shooting range; a fair of folk craftsmen will unfold," - the message says.
The festival will be held for the fifth time. Over four years, more than 15 thousand people have visited "SenoFest" in "Malye Korely".
