Local protected areas are home to 48 adults and 10 cubs.
Such data on the state of the tiger population in the south-west of Primorsky Krai over the past year were obtained by researchers from the Land of the Leopard. At the same time, last year, scientists recorded 41 tigers.
New information was obtained by analyzing photomonitoring data. The growth in the number of the rarest cats is due to the reliable protection of the territory and the maintenance of the food supply. The stability of the group is also evidenced by the fact that there are almost twice as many tigresses as tigers in the national park.
"A large group of the Amur tiger lives in the Land of the Leopard National Park with a buffer zone and in the Kedrovaya Pad Nature Reserve, as well as the core of the world's only wild population of Far Eastern leopards, which has a little over 120 individuals," the national park said.
The "Land of the Leopard" has the highest density of the Amur tiger among the reserves and national parks of Russia. The number of tigers and leopards in this national park is growing steadily every year. This is achieved thanks to the growth in the number of wild ungulates in the "Land of the Leopard".
According to the researchers, to maintain the balance, constant monitoring of predator populations and their habitats is required in order to take timely measures for the effective management of territories.
