The press service of the Kronotsky Reserve said that the expedition of specialists to study anthropogenic pressures on natural complexes lasted a month and a half. They made several trips through the territory of the tourist and recreational cluster "Reserved Kamchatka: the land of people, volcanoes and salmon." The routes ran through the South Kamchatka Federal Reserve and adjacent lands. The expedition was accompanied by state inspectors of the Kronotsky Reserve.

Participants of the field studies made several hikes of varying complexity and duration. Including two multi-day circular routes.

The first route trip  lasted 11 days and ran from the village of Ozernovsky on the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk through the Nizhne-Koshelevskiye and Verkhne-Koshelevskiye thermal springs on the slope of the Koshelev volcano, White waterfalls and the village of Pauzhetka.

The starting point of the second, 15-day hike, was the village of Pauzhetka. The route included many interesting objects to show. Among them are the Kambalny Ridge, the volcano and the lake of the same name, the coast of the Sea of Okhotsk, and the South Kambalny thermal anomalies. The trip ended in the village of Ozernovsky.

Now the participants of the hikes will have to prepare a scientific justification for the development of new hiking routes to the south of the Kamchatka Peninsula on the territory of the cluster. In particular, specialists must compile field physical and geographical descriptions of the routes and conduct their landscape and ecological survey.

The final stage of the expedition will last until December. Following it, specialists will develop a preliminary scheme for the placement of infrastructure facilities and adjust the route route to reduce the impact on nature and make the route more comfortable for travelers.

The developers of the tourist and recreational cluster project, on the territory of which the expedition took place, set themselves the task of creating a sustainable tourism model in the south of Kamchatka, based on the interaction of a specially protected natural area, the local population, socially and environmentally responsible business.

"In particular, it is planned to unload the popular route to Kuril Lake and show travelers no less interesting natural sights; establish cooperation with residents of settlements adjacent to the South Kamchatka Reserve so that they can earn income from eco-tourism; create modern infrastructure on new routes and in settlements that will become tourist centers," the press service of the Kronotsky Reserve said.
