The creation of tourist clusters in Sakhalin will help increase the tourist flow from 300 thousand tourists to 600 thousand people per year, as reported by the Interfax-tourism agency with reference to the acting Minister of Tourism of the Sakhalin Region Natalia Pakholkova, who spoke at the open doors of the Sakhalin Region for investors.
The presentation of island tourism projects took place in Moscow with the participation of 80 companies. The event was supported by the Federal Agency for Tourism and the Agency for Strategic Initiatives (ASI).
In particular, they discussed the creation of tourist and recreational clusters "Iturup Resort", "Laguna Busse", as well as the "Onekotan Archipelago" and a hotel complex at the ski resort "Mountain Air" in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk.
In 2019, the Sakhalin Region was visited by about 260 thousand people. According to official figures, these are only those tourists who stayed in hotels.
The Iturup Resort project - a mountain resort with a pool with thermal water and a golf course - was presented by Vasta Discovery LLC, which was the initiator and one of the investors in the project.
The agency quoted the general director of Vasta Discovery Sergei Bachin, who noted that when the resort is included in the national tourism development project, the interest on the loan for investors can be reduced from 9-10% to 3.5% per annum by subsidizing the interest rate.
Within the framework of the Laguna Busse project, it is planned to build an eco-format hotel complex with 25 rooms on Lake Bolshoye Vavayskoye.
The Onekotan Archipelago project involves the integrated development of the territory of the four North Kuril Islands - Atlasov, Paramushir, Onekotan and Shumshu, Interfax-tourism reports.
Dmitry Rodionov, General Director of Onekotan Archipelago LLC, also said that at the first stage of the project it is planned to equip a network of pedestrian routes, a park-hotel with 200 rooms, a runway for small aircraft, and a yacht club.
The Sakhalin Region includes Sakhalin Island with the adjoining small islands of Moneron and Tyuleniy, as well as the Kuril Islands.
Sakhalin is the largest island in Russia.
