Sakhalin may rank the top 5 ski resorts in Russia

The new resident of the priority development area (TOR) "Mountain Air" will be engaged in the construction of the ski infrastructure of this famous Sakhalin sports and tourist complex. We are talking about the Mantera-Sakhalin company, which belongs to the Mantera Group of Companies, which manages large tourist assets, including the Krasnaya Polyana resort.

“Until 2030, the investor is implementing a major tourism project that will allow Sakhalin to enter the TOP-5 ski resorts of the Russian Federation,” the Corporation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic (KRDV) said on its website.

In particular, it is planned to build 45 km of slopes of varying complexity on the slopes of the Krasnaya and Ostraya mountain peaks and two suspended passenger cable cars of the gondola type. As noted in the corporation, ten-seater comfortable and safe cabins with heated seats are designed to lift up to 2,400 skiers and snowboarders per hour. Also, an artificial snowmaking system will be installed on the territory of the complex, which will produce 800 cubic meters of snow every hour, and snowmobiles and construction equipment will be purchased.

“In addition to the developed ski infrastructure, hotels of various categories (3*, 4* and 5* and a total of 1930 rooms), restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as a bath complex, SPA and sports facilities will be built on an area of more than 1,000 hectares. Thus, the resident of the ASEZ "Mountain Air" plans to implement the concept of an integrated resort," the KRDV said.

It is planned that as a result, the tourist flow to the resort will be 600 thousand people a year.

“Today Sakhalin is one of the leaders in the tourism industry in the Far East, and the key point of attraction is the ski resort located in the very center of the city of Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. We are glad that the region attracts not only travelers, but also new investors who are ready to invest in the development of the hospitality sector and create new facilities, promote event tourism - sports, cultural, ethnographic, gastronomic," said Director of KRDV Sakhalin and the Kuriles Mikhail Aleshin, quoted by the corporation.

According to him, under the unified management of the Mantera-Sakhalin company, an urban planning environment, an architectural code, service standards, and trained personnel will be created.

“In fact, with the help of state support measures that the ASEZ resident will receive, the local resort will become a mini-city with a full range of tourist and urban services that will be provided to the highest international standards,” Alyoshin said.

Under an agreement with the KRDV, the volume of investments in the project will exceed 5.2 billion rubles.

According to the corporation, according to agreements with it, 32 projects are being implemented today at the Gorny Vozdukh ASEZ. Seven projects have already been successfully launched, including a restaurant complex on the top of Mount Bolshevik, an Alpine-style apart-hotel, a shopping and entertainment center and a number of hotels, as well as a new airport complex.
