The popularity of protected areas in Russia among tourists is growing every year, the leaders in terms of attendance are the national parks "Kislovodsky", "Sochi" and "Curonian Spit".
According to the Roszapovedtsentr of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia, by September 2021, the number of domestic and foreign guests of specially protected natural areas of federal significance amounted to 7.9 million people.
According to the ministry, the top ten most visited protected areas are headed by the national parks "Kislovodsky" (2,352,336 tourists), "Sochinsky" (1,238,004), "Curonian Spit" (578,915), "Krasnoyarsk Pillars" (548,871), Kavkazsky the reserve (409 403), followed by the national park "Prielbrusye", as well as the reserves "Kivach", Dagestansky, Prioksko-Terrasny and Zhigulevsky.
“The active development of tourism infrastructure contributes to an increase in the number of visitors to protected areas. New ecological paths and routes, visitor centers and guest houses appear in the protected areas, ”the statement of the Russian Federal Reserve Center says.
Thus, in September of this year, a new ecotrail “Birds, Fish and Whales” was opened in the Onega Pomorie National Park, where you can learn about the biodiversity of the Onega Bay area and see belugas from the observation tower. In the Losiny Ostrov National Park at Losina Biostation, a new 1.5-kilometer-long Olenya eco-trail is being set up, equipped with information stands and three viewing platforms.
Kronotsky Nature Reserve is completing the arrangement of a visit center in the village of Ozernovsky - there will be classrooms for environmental lessons. And in the Lapland reserve (Murmansk region), students of the St. A.L. Stieglitz in the summer equipped a place for recreation on the banks of the Chunozero.
