Inbound tourism will resume in Russia as early as July 1, and regional leaders will have to submit a plan for launching the tourism industry by June 15, the NSN agency quoted Cabinet Deputy Chairman Dmitry Chernyshenko as saying during a meeting with the Russian Prime Minister.
According to him, it is necessary to support family tourism by introducing special tariffs for families with children.
It is reported that in Russia it is also planned to launch more than 10 new tourist routes, including the Baikal and the Kaliningrad regions.
Earlier, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin also said that the tourism sector presents great potential, although it was most exposed to the crisis associated with the Covid-19 pandemic, RIA Novosti reported.
"The tourism industry is not only one of the most affected [by Covid-19], but also one of the most promising, its potential is extremely high and in the current conditions it is acquiring strategic importance," the agency quoted Mishustin as saying.
According to the report, the demand for domestic tourism in Russia remains strong, but more efforts must be made to develop infrastructure.
“The problem is the lack of quality tourism infrastructure and services at competitive prices,” he said.
