The Russian government intends to actively develop inbound tourism within the framework of a new project, which is already under development, Interfax reports, citing a statement by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko.
According to him, the project "sets ambitious goals on the horizon for the next 10 years."
The government hopes that such an initiative will help increase the number of trips made by Russians within their country, double the number of jobs in the industry, and increase the contribution of tourism to the country's GDP.
According to the report, the government has selected 11 most promising clusters, where a separate infrastructure will be created.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the heads of the regions reacted very actively to this initiative, since tourism can provide economic growth, employment of people in the industry and improve the quality of life of the local population.
