The countries intend to promote joint package tours, as stated during the negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Sochi.
«The parties agreed to strive to develop and promote joint package tours for organizing combined trips to Russia and Greece, which will be addressed to distant tourist markets, as well as for the implementation of the Silk Road tourism program of the World Tourism Organization,» as mentioned in the Joint Action Plan of Russia and Greece for 2022-2024, published on the Kremlin website.
Russia and Greece will also "step up cooperation in the field of cruise tourism in the Black Sea and Eastern Mediterranean regions." The countries intend to exchange information on the quality of services provided, develop thematic tourism products related to cultural, religious, pilgrimage, school, sea and other types of tourism. It will also continue with information and delegations within the framework of tourism education.
Vladimir Putin noted that the Russian-Greek meetings in Sochi were meaningful and fruitful. Today, relations between the countries are developing very positively.
“If last year we saw a decline in trade by about 35%, then this year the growth was 56%, we have practically reached the pre-pandemic level,” the President of Russia said.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke in favor of further strengthening relations with Russia, including «in the field of economics, since the Greek economy, despite the conditions of the pandemic, has recently noted quite rapid growth».
“There is a prospect of both increasing our trade and economic turnover and developing cooperation in the field of tourism,” added Mitsotakis.
The Greek leader told reporters that Russia is a stable and profitable partner in the energy sector. Our country provides more than 40% of Greece's needs for natural gas, supplies are carried out, including through the new Turkish Stream pipeline. In 2021, Russia increased exports by more than 12% - up to 3 billion cubic meters.
