In 2020, 6.6 billion rubles were allocated to the regions of the Russian Federation for the development of forestry. As the deputy head of the Federal Forestry Agency (Rosleskhoz) Mikhail Klinov told reporters, these funds were allocated as part of the Ecology national project. The funds will help increase the area of reforestation and afforestation, as well as to reduce damage from forest fires.
According to Klinov, in 2020 it is planned to restore about 1.1 million hectares of forest - 2.4 billion rubles were allocated for this in accordance with the federal project “Forest Preservation”, which is part of the national project. More than 1,000 units of forestry machinery and equipment worth 650 million rubles should also be purchased in the regions. In addition, the allocated 41 million rubles will be spent on growing 698 million seedlings of forest plants and the formation of a seed reserve of 243 tons.
The deputy head of Rosleskhoz emphasized that among the most important tasks is the fight against forest fires. He added that the technical re-equipment of forest fire units is ongoing. “This year, more than 3.2 billion rubles have been allocated to the regions for the purchase of fire fighting equipment, regional parks will be replenished with more than 9 thousand units for these funds,” he said.
