By the end of the spring session, the State Duma may adopt a bill "On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Russian Federation on the Development of Rural Tourism (Agritourism)", as per the Izvestia news agency. The bill will fix the definition of "rural tourism", which implies cultural tourism, ethnographic, gastronomic, event, agricultural tourism, etc.
Agricultural tourism should be understood as a type of tourism that involves visiting rural areas for the purpose of recreation and familiarization with the activities of agricultural producers or participation in agricultural work without obtaining material benefits, as well as the provision of services by agricultural producers for temporary accommodation (stay), food, leisure activities and the provision of excursion and other services, according to the article.
In addition, the bill takes into account the comments of the Cabinet of Ministers on the need for state support for the new tourist destination. Thus, the Ministry of Agriculture has already developed a departmental project "Development of rural tourism (agritourism) in the Russian Federation". Funds for the implementation of the project will be allocated in 2022.
