Roszapovedtsentr published an overview of the protected areas of the Central Federal District, which will be convenient to visit on May holidays or weekends due to good transport accessibility.
“Reserves and national parks accept both organized groups of tourists and individual visitors. In addition to admiring the beauties of spring nature, guests of the specially protected natural areas can visit visitor centers and museums, visit eco-parks and aviary complexes, walk along ecological paths, and much more,” the message on the Roszapovedcenter website says.
The view is opened by the only reserve of the Moscow region - Prioksko-Terrasny. It is located just 100 kilometers from Moscow in the urban district of Serpukhov. The main attraction is the bison (wild forest bull, the largest ungulate animal in Europe). Experts advise visiting here a bison nursery, the high-altitude ecological trail "Through the foliage" and the eco-park "Derevo-Dom".
The next on the list is Pleshcheyevo Lake National Park, which is located in the Yaroslavl Region, on the Golden Ring route. In addition to the unique reserved lake and its environs, you can visit the famous S.F. Kharitonov arboretum, the ancient city of Pereslavl-Zalessky. You can get acquainted with ecological and historical sights on several hiking trails.
The Meshchera National Park is located in the Vladimir Region near the town of Gus-Khrustalny. It offers a local history complex with expositions "Old Russian Settlement", "Russian Compound", "Russian Hut", an aviary complex with bison, the Museum of Birds, a megalithic complex and a demonstration site "Restoration of Swamps".
The National Park "Ugra" in the Kaluga region is a huge protected area with hiking trails, sandy beaches and ancient monasteries. It is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
Its list also includes the Kaluzhskie Zaseki nature reserve, where bison have been living here since 2001. In addition, it will be interesting for children and adults to walk along the eco-trails and see the forests that made up the defensive part of the Moscow State in the 16th-18th centuries.
In the Oksky Reserve, majestic forests give way to moss-bogs, and lakes with clear water turn into rivers black with peat. The most unique facility for the restoration and conservation of birds is also located here - the Nursery of rare species of cranes, the Nursery of purebred Caucasian-Belovezhskaya bison and the Museum of Nature of the protected areas.
The Central Forest Reserve (Tver region) is ready to offer visitors a trip along various eco-trails. Some of the routes are one-day, while traveling to others will take one or two days and may well become a full-fledged hike, experts say.
