Rosa Khutor to host the XII Winter Spartakiad of Russian Students

More than twenty regions of Russia will present their teams to participate in the competition. In total, more than five hundred athletes, coaches and judges will take part in them. The grand opening of the Spartakiad will be held at Rosa Khutor on February 7 - the day of the start of the Winter Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014. The ceremony will begin at 16.00 in the center of the resort, on the Town Hall Square. The legends of the Sochi Olympics will take part in it, they will award the first winners of the competition, thereby passing the symbolic baton to the next generation of Russian athletes.

The main competitions of the XII Winter Spartakiad of students at the Rosa Khutor resort will be concentrated at 1600 meters above sea level. As during the 2014 Winter Olympics, a single finish area will be organized here. Part of the competition will be held at 1,350 meters above sea level in the area of the Gazebo lift and on the Nagano 98 highway.

- Due to the compact placement of sports tracks and logistics for athletes, there will be no restrictions for skiing guests of the resort. The entrance to the competitions and trainings will be free. Anyone who comes to the competition area on skis or snowboarding will be able to become a "spectator", the Rosa Khutor resort reported.

The Spartakiad starts will be held from February 4 to 8. The snowboarding discipline includes competitions in parallel giant slalom (February 4-5), parallel slalom (February 6), Big Air (February 4-5). The freestyle competitions will include Big Air (February 5-6), moguls (February 5-6) and pair moguls (February 5-7). The alpine skiing discipline will include giant slalom (February 7) and slalom (February 8).
