Thanks to the concerted efforts of rescuers, a whale named Stanislav has been found alive and will soon receive the necessary assistance.
On June 5, Stanislav was discovered by tourists in distress: he was entangled in nets and unable to free himself. The wounds inflicted by the nets, as well as the inability to fully open his mouth, threatened the animal's life.
Without wasting a minute, activists launched a major rescue operation. Using drones and small boats, they methodically combed through the 120-kilometer coastal zone of the Kola Peninsula, continuing their search day and night, taking advantage of the polar day.
The persistence and perseverance of the rescuers paid off: the whale was found on the night of June 11.
The Kola Mining and Metallurgical Company, a member of the Norilsk Nickel Group, played an important role in saving the whale. The company not only allocated funds for the specialists' flight and the rental of two boats, but also organized the accommodation of the rescue team at the operation site.
Ahead lies the difficult and painstaking work of freeing Stanislav from the nets and providing him with the necessary veterinary care. The whale's size requires special care and coordination from the rescuers. Everyone hopes that after the successful completion of the operation, Stanislav will be able to return to his natural habitat and reunite with his relatives.
