Scientists have received evidence that deer began to breed in the north of the Novaya Zemlya archipelago.

The discovery was made during the recently completed Arctic Floating University 2022 expedition. Biologists noticed three calves in the herd at the age of one and a half months.

Thus, it was concluded that deer can not only live in the north of Novaya Zemlya all year round, but also breed here.

Scientists also did not rule out that such migration is associated with general warming in the Arctic.
