The gorgeous colchicum is a member of the lily family and is similar to crocuses. The plant reaches a height of 40 centimeters. The bulb is oblong and up to 5 centimeters long and up to 3 centimeters wide. During the active flowering period in September-October, the plant produces up to four beautiful flowers.
The flora and fauna of the Caucasian Black Sea region are extremely rich. There are over 1650 species of native (local) plants, among which about 150 are trees and shrubs. More than 180 species of animals and plants are rare and included in the Red Data Book. Every fifth species is endemic, that is, it is not found anywhere else in the world.
