The press service of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources reported that Qatar has joined the international declaration of intent to conserve the gyrfalcon population. The document was signed within the framework of the international forum "Falcon Day" in Vladivostok.
To date, Mongolia, China, the UAE, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, and the Kingdom of Bahrain have also joined the declaration. Its goals include developing international cooperation to prevent poaching, smuggling, and illegal trade,preventing the degradation of the falcon family, promoting the development of breeding centers, and providing assistance to regions where the gyrfalcon lives.
On the sidelines of "Falcon Day," a bilateral meeting was held between Sergey Anoprienko, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia, and Abdulaziz Ahmad Al-Mahmoud, Deputy Minister of Environment and Climate Change of the State of Qatar. They discussed the development of cooperation in the field of biodiversity conservation. The Qatari side, in particular, expressed its readiness to participate in joint scientific research on the reintroduction of the gyrfalcon.
"Falcon Day" is being held as part of the Eastern Economic Forum for the second time. This year, it was attended by representatives of Qatar, Kuwait, the UAE, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and other countries.
