Travellers from China, Pakistan, Jamaica, Luxembourg and Oman have been banned from entering the Philippines, to halt the spread of a new and more contagious COVID-19 variant.

The expanded travel restrictions will apply to the following areas effective 12:01 noon of Jan 13 until Jan 15.

Filipinos coming from these territories can still come home but subject to the absolute 14-day quarantine, whatever may be the result of their PCR test.

Beijing, in early January, had reported that a 23-year-old woman who arrived from the United Kingdom tested positive for the new COVID-19 strain, which was first detected in the UK.
