Norilsk Nickel will support the Taimyr Nature Reserves project to calculate the number of snow sheep, or thick-horns, listed in the Red Book of the Krasnoyarsk Territory and Russia. This was announced by the vice president of the company Andrey Grachev.

According to him, Norilsk Nickel will take over the provision of fuel for the expedition and will help in the delivery of field equipment. It is planned that scientists will determine the exact habitats of the rhinoceroses and the sex and age composition of the herds.

Today, the habitat of snow sheep (Ovis nivicola) looks on the map as closed pockets in the mountains of Central and Eastern Siberia, the Far East and North America.

The thick-horns owe their name to the rather thick (in males - up to 38 cm in circumference) curved horns. These are dense stocky animals with a height of 100-112 cm at the withers and a weight of 68-150 kg. They can be white, light gray, and dark, almost to black, sgnorilsk.ru reports.
