Norilsk Nickel has built two new houses in Ust-Avam as part of the implementation of the program to support indigenous peoples of the North. “It is gratifying to see the results of our program to support indigenous peoples specifically in terms of residential infrastructure. Two families moved into the new houses. They are spacious, warm, bright and comply with all the norms of our legislation. In addition, future residents could control the quality of materials themselves. This year we will also please the residents of the village of Volochanka and will continue to commission new housing every year,” said Andrey Grachev, Vice President of Norilsk Nickel.

The company said that all cottages are being built in compliance with the construction technology in permafrost conditions - on piles. The area of each house is 50 sq. meters, designed for two rooms, a hallway and a kitchen.

Since 2020, Nornickel has been implementing a five-year program to support the indigenous peoples of Taimyr. Initially, the company allocated 2 billion rubles for its financing, but in 2021 it allocated an additional 200 million rubles for these purposes.
