By 2023 the Leningrad region will create the eco-project "Kurenniemi - the cultural value of Russia and Finland through the Mikael Agricola trail». The project will be launched within the framework of the cross-border cooperation program "Russia - South-East Finland".
This project also suggests the creation of a specially protected natural area (SPNA) of regional significance, reports TASS citing the head of the department of specially protected natural areas of the Committee for Natural Resources of the Leningrad Region Fedor Stulov.
According to the report, 424.5 thousand euros will be allocated for the project, part of which was allocated by the European Union.
At the moment, scientists are studying the future territory of the park, which is supposed to be about 2.5 thousand hectares.
Within the framework of the project, eco-trails and a mobile visitor center will be created, environmental education boards will be installed on the territory of the park, resting places and tents will be organized.
