The Interfax-tourism agency, citing the director of the national park Anatoly Kalina, reports that the first test flights of an amphibious aircraft have already been carried out. In addition, these flights are being coordinated with supervisory authorities.

"Flights of tourists over the spit have long been part of our plans for excursion services for visitors. Our unique peninsula with its sand dunes and beaches, forests and coastal waters of the Baltic Sea and the Curonian Lagoon looks fantastic from a height. And our guests should see it during flights which we are planning," Kalina said.

“We hope that already in early, mid-August, the first tourists will be able to take to the air and see the spit from a bird’s eye view,” he added.
