The tourist flow increased by 20 percent compared to the same period last year.
"In the summer, 6.2 million tourists visited Moscow. And 90 percent of them are our compatriots. The internal tourist flow reached 5.6 million people," said Moscow Deputy Mayor Natalya Sergunina.
Most often, guests came to the capital from the Central Federal District, the Volga Federal District, St. Petersburg, the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region.
At the same time, the number of travelers from neighboring countries increased by 25 percent. In summer, Moscow was visited by about 440,000 guests from neighboring countries.
In total, guests of the capital spent almost 252 billion rubles in shops, restaurants, hotels, museums, theaters.
