More than 900 southern plants to be planted in Sochi

Camellias, rhododendrons, cypresses, cherries, magnolias and resin seedling, liquidambara and groundcover roses are already being planted. Honeysuckle, hydrangea, azalea, yew and miscanthus were purchased. There are 908 seedlings in total.

– Before starting work in the squares, experts examined all the places where landscaping was planned, selected species that would feel good in these areas. Be sure to take into account the territories where dry trees had to be removed earlier. All the plants that we plant on the streets today are perennial, and will delight the eyes of both residents and guests of the city for a long time," said Alexander Ginkovsky, director of the Department of Environmental Protection, Forestry, Agriculture and Industry.

It is also planned to complete the planting of 125 palm trees of Washingtonia filamentosa and Washingtonia robusta species in Sochi by the end of spring, 80 large-sized trees from local nurseries will appear on Navaginskaya Street.

In 2023, 8,115 plants were planted on 44 municipal plots within the framework of compensatory landscaping contracts: coniferous, decorative evergreen and deciduous species, various types of palm trees. Also, almost a million plants have been planted on 186 plots as part of the floral design of the resort.
