More than 50 wrecks will be disposed of in the Far East by the end of the year

The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources reported that at the moment 79 wrecks have been disposed of in the Far Eastern Federal District as part of the federal project "General Cleaning". By December of this year, it is planned to raise and dispose of another 51 vessels.

Seven vessels are located in the Magadan Region, four in the Primorsky Territory, 14 in the Kamchatka Territory, 18 in the Sakhalin Region and eight in the Khabarovsk Territory.

As part of the General Cleaning project, Rosprirodnadzor takes inventory of accumulated damage objects throughout the country, and Rospotrebnadzor makes an assessment of their impact on the life and health of the population. According to the results of the surveys, these facilities are being liquidated, starting with the most dangerous ones. In addition, measures are being taken to liquidate wells of the undistributed subsoil fund and to raise and dispose of sunken ships.

The head of the Ministry of Natural Resources Alexander Kozlov noted that sunken ships interfere with navigation and poison marine ecosystems. By 2025, it is planned to clear the marine waters of 213 submerged vessels.
