It's popularly known as the "marmalade tree". This coniferous plant has been covered in small berries that resemble cherries in appearance.
"The red and purple arils are edible. They can be eaten raw. The fruits taste like marmalade, so you can also make jam from them," said the Sochi National Park.
Podocarpus grows in Africa, Asia, Australia, Central and South America, and on several Pacific islands. There are about a hundred species of podocarpus in the world. The "marmalade tree" is used in folk medicine to treat coughs, asthma, cholera, plague, and fever, and has anti-tumor and antimicrobial properties.
