The press service of the Ministry of Natural Resources of Russia announced that restoration work has been completed on Lake Manzherok in the Altai Republic, which holds the status of a natural monument of regional significance. The waterbody has been cleaned of bottom sediments and vegetation. This work was carried out as part of a federal project aimed at preserving unique water objects.

Lake Manzherok is located at the foothills of the northeastern part of the Altai Mountains. This natural monument includes natural complexes that hold significant scientific, educational, environmental protection, ecological awareness, and recreational value.

In the 1970s and 1980s, the degradation of the waterbody began. Comprehensive measures to restore the lake did not fully halt the negative processes. In 2023-2024, more than 350 million rubles were allocated by Rosvodresursy for cleaning work. As a result, 257,000 square meters of bottom sediments were removed, improving the lake’s nourishment and enhancing its self-purification ability.

As part of the federal project, there are plans to clear 177 kilometers of riverbeds and nearly 4,000 hectares of water areas. The work is being conducted in 50 regions across the country.
