According to tradition, a mass ascent to the Avachinsky volcano is planned. However, in order to reduce the anthropogenic pressure on its ecosystem, the number of participants will be limited: up to 700 people can attend the event daily.
In addition, everyone can try Nordic walking.
As part of the Volcano Day, a mountaineering championship in the discipline of skyrunning and competitions for schoolchildren using innovative technologies to explore the Earth's hard-to-reach landscapes will be held.
It is also planned to conduct various educational lectures and master classes on the topic of ecology.
The first official Volcano Day in the Kamchatka Territory took place in 2008. In 2017, the festival received an award for the 1st place in the National Russian Event Awards in the nomination "The best tourist event dedicated to the Year of Ecology".
