IV Winter Spartakiad of Russian Youth opened in Krasnoyarsk

The Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin, in a video message to the participants, organizers and guests, noted: “The Spartakiad is a great holiday that unites young athletes from all over Russia. It is not inferior in scale to major international events.

The competitions of the Spartakiad will be hosted by magnificent sports facilities of the subjects of the Russian Federation. Among them are the Olympic facilities in Sochi, as well as sports facilities in Krasnoyarsk, where the World Winter Universiade 2019 was held.

Many of you already have experience playing at major international tournaments. The more interesting will be the fight at the Youth Spartakiad. Everyone is ready to show their best results.

I wish all the participants of the competition high sports achievements, and the audience to enjoy the performances of the strongest youth of Russia.”

The opening ceremony of the Youth Spartakiad 2023 was attended by Alexei Drozdov, Director of the Department of High Performance Sports of the Russian Ministry of Sports, and Denis Petrovsky, Minister of Sports of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

For athletes and guests of the ceremony in the Plasma Hall, drummers performed an incendiary show, as well as freestyle football players with a bright number “One Touch”, who recently represented this country in the show program at the World Cup in Qatar.

Juniors  from 19 constituent entities of the Russian Federation, including the easternmost regions of our country - the Sakhalin Region and the Kamchatka Territory, came to Krasnoyarsk for the Alpine skiing competitions of the Youth Spartakiad. Immediately after the ceremony, the athletes went to the lifts to compete for medals.

The program of the IV Winter Spartakiad of Russian Youth in 2023 included competitions in 15 sports: biathlon, bobsleigh (including skeleton), alpine skiing, curling, speed skating (including short track), Nordic combined, ski racing, ski jumping, luge, snowboarding, orienteering, figure skating, freestyle, bandy, ice hockey.

Krasnoyarsk, in addition to skiers, accepts freestylers and snowboarders. Skeleton, bobsleigh, luge, ice hockey (juniors), curling and figure skating competitions will be held in Sochi, and ice hockey competitions (juniors) will be held in Krasnodar. Ski jumping and Nordic combined competitions will take place in Nizhny Tagil, orienteering in Ufa, biathlon in Saransk, speed skating in Chelyabinsk, cross-country skiing in Vylgort (Komi Republic), and bandy in Kemerovo. Short track competitions have already ended in Smolensk.

In total, 224 sets of awards are played at the Spartakiad.

The IV Winter Spartakiad of the Russian Youth is held within the framework of the federal project "Sport is the norm of life" of the national project "Demography".

The Bobrovy Log Funpark (owned by Norilsk Nickel) is a world-class all-season sports and recreation park located in a recreational area on the border with the Krasnoyarsk Stolby National Park, just a 15-minute drive from the center of Krasnoyarsk.

10 slopes of the Funpark have been certified for compliance with international standards set by the International Ski Federation (FIS). Every year on the slopes of the complex there are competitions in alpine skiing sports of the regional and federal levels.

In 2019, the ski competitions of the Universiade were held in Bobrovy Log.
