The Italian government has announced the closure of all ski resorts in the country as part of the fight against the coronavirus epidemic.
The authorities decided to quarantine Lombardy and fourteen other provinces, where about 15 million people live. In addition, restrictive measures have been taken throughout the country to combat the spread of the virus, including the closure of cultural sites, cinemas, theaters and discos until April 3.
The authorities of the Aosta valley region, where the Italian slope of Mont Blanc is located, decided to close all hotels located there until April 3.
For its part, the Italian Olympic Committee demanded that the government suspend all sporting events at all levels until April 3. If this requirement is met, it may, in particular, mean the suspension of the Italian football championship, whose matches are currently held without spectators.
Among European countries, Italy has been the most affected by the coronavirus, with about 500 people already affected by it.
