For the eighth year in a row, the Russian Railways holding decides to provide a 50% discount on the travel of children from 10 to 17 years old inclusive from June 1 to August 31. The company announced this on its website.
“The special tariff will allow families with children to save money on organizing summer holidays.
In the summer of 2022 alone, more than 3.1 million children aged 10 to 17 used a 50% discount on long-distance trains, which is 25.6% more than in 2021. In total, more than 17 million children used the discount in seven years,” the message says.
Russian Railways recalled that the discount is provided to all children aged 10 to 17 years inclusive when issuing travel documents for common and reserved seat cars of fast and long-distance passenger trains (including branded ones) and cars of the 2nd and 3rd class of multiple unit rolling stock (long-distance electric trains) trains of JSC FPC when traveling through the territory of Russia.
The age of the child is determined on the day of the start of the trip.
Also, for the fourth year in a row, children from 10 to 17 years old inclusive during the summer holidays will be able to travel at special prices in compartment cars of double-decker trains. At the same time, the ticket price for them will be comparable to half the fare on this route in a reserved seat car.
It is possible to issue tickets at a special rate for trips during the summer school holidays from March 4th.
A 50% discount is provided only on the fare, the fee for using a set of bed linen is charged in full (when traveling in double-decker compartment cars, the cost of a set of services is additionally charged). The discount is not available on high-speed and high-speed trains, Russian Railways noted.
