Year–round seaside resorts on the coast of five seas - the Baltic, Azov, Black, Caspian and Japanese - are planned to be created in Russia by 2030.
At a meeting of the presidium of the government commission for tourism development under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, a discussion was held on the instructions of President Vladimir Putin, prescribing the creation of federal sea resorts by 2030, designed for at least ten million tourists a year.
"The key indicator of the national project is the number of domestic tourist trips, which should amount to at least 140 million by 2030, and ten million, which will provide new seaside resorts, will be a serious contribution to this piggy bank," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
The priority resorts are named Novaya Anapa, Abrau-Durso, Golden Sands of Russia and Saki on the Black Sea, the Caspian Coastal Cluster in Dagestan, the "Russian Baltic" in Kaliningrad and Vladivostok in Primorsky Krai.
Another major resort should be created on Lake Baikal. It is assumed that Baikal tourism projects will attract up to 50 billion rubles of private investment.
In total, new hotels with 44.000 rooms should appear in Russia.
