Hoteliers in Italy lost 2.5 billion euros due to coronavirus

Hotel reservations in Italy due to the coronavirus outbreak in this country have decreased by 80%, the losses are estimated at 2.5 billion euros. This data was distributed by the professional Association of Italian hoteliers Federalberghi. 

The data does not include losses of other parts of the Italian tourism sector - transport, restaurant and retail business. 

The share of the Italian tourism industry, which employs about one million people, in the national GDP is 13%.
In Italy, the number of victims of the new type of coronavirus COVID-19 has exceeded one thousand people. Over the past days, the total number of infected people has increased by almost three thousand. 213 people were discharged from hospitals.
