Guests of the Friendship of Peoples festival at VDNKh to learn about different national traditions

A large-scale festival of national hospitality will be held in the capital from July 13 to 16.

The VDNH press service reported that from July 13 to 16, guests of the large-scale festival will be able to take part in various master classes and other concert and entertainment events.

The rich program of the Friendship of Peoples festival will unite festivals of folk art and crafts, theaters and sports. Most of the events will be free, but some will require pre-registration.

As part of the music program, it will be possible to listen to the national music of various groups of the CIS countries and dance. Choreographic groups and the singer Varvara will perform on the main stage of the festival on Industry Square, and a concert by Pelageya will be held at the Green Theater of VDNKh.

Those who wish will be treated to Armenian apricots as part of the national holiday "Apricot", which will be held near the exhibition and trade center of the Republic of Armenia.

As part of the theater program, the Worker and Collective Farm Woman pavilion will host performances, a concert on the roof, lectures, excursions, as well as calligraphy and quiz lessons. Visitors will learn how old Russian handwriting changed each other, what they were like during the reign of Yaroslav the Wise, Ivan the Terrible and Peter the Great, how books were decorated and what materials were used for writing.

A pavilion will operate on the site behind the Slovo Museum of Slavic Literature, where leading scientists and teachers of the Pushkin Institute will tell visitors about Russian literature, Chinese characters, African roots of A.S. Pushkin and more.

“Also, the Pushkin Institute will present the volunteer program “Ambassadors of the Russian Language in the World”. Participants travel around Russia and around the world, conduct classes in the Russian language and tell schoolchildren about Russian culture and literature. The next expedition will take place in August, the participants of the Friendship of Peoples festival will be able to learn how to become a volunteer and go on a trip with the Pushkin Institute,” the report says.

As part of the Apricot holiday, the Fairy Tale Theater will host performances of a children's puppet show “A feaster will always have a feast” based on Russian, Armenian fairy tales and the fairy tale of the same name by Hovhannes Tumanyan. Sessions are scheduled in Russian and Armenian.

The exhibition and trade center of the Republic of Kazakhstan will host the festival of folk art and fashion "Patterns". Visitors will be shown ethnic, modern and children's clothing collections of designers from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia and other countries. In addition, guests will be able to join master classes on creating perfume and skin care, lectures from representatives of art and creativity. In front of the pavilion there will be a handicraft fair.

“As part of the festival, the pavilion will also host a charity event “From Heart to Heart”, where each visitor will be able to draw a heart with a pattern and ornament of their country,” the message says.

As part of the sports program, a football tournament "Apricot Ball" near the Michurinsky Garden, chess and backgammon competitions are planned.
Hobbyhorsing competitions with elements of national equestrian disciplines are planned at the exit circle of the Center for National Equestrian Traditions. In addition, the best riders of the Kremlin Riding School will perform in front of the audience with the program "National equestrian traditions of the peoples of the world." Athletes will show their skills in the brightest types of equestrian sports: dzhigitovka, tentpegging and equestrian archery.

The festival venues will also host theatrical workshops, during which the audience will be able to take part in the battles themselves, lead a round dance and sing Russian songs.

Guests of the festival will also be able to taste various national drinks as part of the Days of Armenian Wine and the Days of Krasnodar Wines. The Moscow Tea Exhibition will present classic and unusual types of tea, as well as introduce guests to the tea culture of China through lectures, tastings and demonstrations of an authentic tea ceremony.
