The business Forum for Sustainable Tourism development "Travel!" opened in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky on Tuesday, it will last until February 23.
"The Forum for Sustainable Tourism Development is a traditional All–Russian business event that is held in Kamchatka during the Winter Festival "Beringia". This is a key platform for discussing a wide range of issues of environmental, adventure and winter tourism in the context of the federal agenda for the development of the industry," the message on the forum's website says.
From February 20 to 22, more than 20 discussion platforms and presentation sessions are planned. February 23 will be dedicated to networking, business communication and acquaintance with the tourist infrastructure of the Kamchatka Territory.
According to the organizers of the forum, according to the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, the intensity of the growth of tourist traffic to the Far East and the Arctic in 2023 was twice ahead of the all-Russian indicator. The increase was 40% against the average of 20% in Russia. The general context of tourism development in these regions is active recreation, eco–tourism and knowledge of remote parts of the country.
"The rapid growth of citizens' interest in remote territories turns weaknesses into strengths – and now such regions as the Kamchatka Territory, Chukotka, Murmansk Region, Khabarovsk Territory and others are becoming attractive pilot territories for business to test new principles of tourism development," the message says.
Therefore, the focus of the forum's events is on the trends and principles of sustainable tourism development in Russia.
The Forum will become the central business event of the Beringia Festival, which includes vibrant events popular among residents and guests of Kamchatka. These are spectacular competitions in the disciplines of skiing and horseback riding, as well as exhibition, congress and festive events that open the brightest facets of the winter tourist season in the Kamchatka Territory, the message says.
