Former mines in the Tula region can be converted into an ecotourism center

The Romantsevskie Gory (mountains) natural-anthropogenic recreation complex in the Tula region, Russia, where the mines used to be located, may win the All-Russian competition for the creation of tourist and recreational clusters and the development of ecotourism of the project office of the Agency for Strategic Initiatives.

As part of the program presented by the government of the Tula region for the development of ecotourism in the protected area the complex will organize recreation facilities in any season - campings, observation decks, beaches, tourist eco-trails, food courts, fishing and barbecues, as well as a youth camp.

‘Romantsevskie Gory’ is a mountainous landscape dotted with cracks and lakes of unusual colors.

Over the summer, this special protected natural area is visited by about 100 thousand people.
