The running festival will take place in Buryatia from August 21 to 26 far from civilization in the picturesque mountains of the Eastern Sayan.

“A great challenge and dizzying views await you. The routes of the festival will pass through the most beautiful places in the area: river valleys, the Valley of Volcanoes, you will see many lakes and enjoy the hot springs of Khoito-Gol. You will visit the habitats of the snow leopard, one of the most graceful animals in Siberia,” the organizers promise on the website of the Sayan Leopard Trail festival.

Races for 5, 10 and 33 km will be held in the Okinsky district of Buryatia, and the path to the start of the competition will be an adventure in itself.

“On the way, you will overcome hundreds of kilometers, see the blue Baikal, the highest point of the Sayans - Mount Munku-Sardyk, the seething Irkut gorge and many other fascinating landscapes,” the organizers say.

According to them, the highlight of the festival will be a two-day hike at a fast pace to the Valley of the Volcanoes for a distance of 35 km. Here, participants will find fords, passes, wetlands and lava fields, as well as clean air, turbulent rivers, crystal lakes and hot springs of Khoito-Gol. The maximum height at this distance is 2300 m.

The name of the festival is not accidental - the Red Book snow leopard lives in the places of the race.

“The owner of the mountain peaks is also called the snow leopard. He is the most jumping of the cat family. But unlike other cats, it cannot growl. There are 14 leopards in Buryatia. Animals are constantly migrating from Russia to Mongolia and back,” the organizers of the festival said.
