The new six-kilometer hiking route was equipped by the staff of the Onega Pomorye National Park and volunteers.
“The route begins next to Lake Murakansky, which was once part of the White Sea. On the trail you can visit a grove of man-made cedars, find out who the amphipod is, and also get acquainted with the Pomeranian wind Siverko. At the place where the dune closes the sea, a wooden staircase was built, which prevents the dune from collapsing. The route ends on the seashore, where volunteers installed a weather vane and a wind rose,” the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources reports on its website.
The equipment of the trail was carried out within the framework of the project “Through the dunes to the sea. Open Air Ecolaboratory” with the support of the “Beautiful Children in a Beautiful World” charity foundation.
The project participants installed information boards and signs along the tourist route and stairs through the dune. In addition to volunteer work, they traveled to neighboring Pomor villages to get to know the history and modern life of the Pomors better.
