Serbia hosted the Plum Days 2023 festival. As in previous decades, this celebration took place in the small town of Blace, famous for its environmentally friendly plums. The most delicious jam is made from this fruit, as well as plum vodka - brandy and a variety of juices, jams, liqueurs. All this was presented in a colorful design on the central "Plum Street" of the city. Serbian Minister of Agriculture Jelena Tanaskovich and head of municipality Ivan Burgic took part in the celebration.
In the orchards of Blace, the number of plum trees is increasing year by year, reaching today a record number of 2,000,000 pieces. Over the past 20 years, local farmers have gradually moved from selling raw materials to processing and producing finished products. Local plum delicacies are very popular throughout Serbia. And the reason for this is not only environmentally friendly ways of farming, but also competent marketing. Blace Plum Festivals have attracted the attention of consumers for decades with various entertainment events.
This year, famous singers and musicians Lepa Brena, Sani Vučić, Pedja Jovanovic and the rock band Vesela Masina performed at the festival concerts. Fun workshops on making sweets, kite competitions, as well as a parade of ultralight aircraft at the Blace airfield were organized for children. All this brought the local holiday to the level of the most important economic and tourist event in Serbia.
