Domestic tourist flow to Moscow increased by 20% over the summer

Tourists from other cities of the country visited the capital much more often than foreigners.

According to the Moscow City Tourism Committee, tourism figures for the summer period of 2022 showed a significant increase in domestic tourist flow to the capital. Of the 6.2 million tourists, the number of Russians this summer was a record 90 percent - 5.6 million.

Most tourists came to Moscow from St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory, Nizhny Novgorod, Tula and Vladimir regions. At the same time, the capital has become the most popular destination for Russian tourists according to the Ruspass service.

According to information on the website of the Moscow Mayor, tourists aged 30 to 49 spent the most money during trips to Moscow. The main expenses of travelers were for shopping and food. On average, tourists spent about 10 thousand rubles during a trip to Moscow.

"In general, over six months, the tourism industry brought 50.2 billion rubles to the city budget. The turnover of the capital's hotels and travel agencies in January-June increased by 50 percent and reached 44.7 billion rubles," the message posted on the website of the Moscow Mayor says.
